What's the best flat iron in terms of quality and product lifespan?

I'm looking for a good flat iron and I want to know what's the best one out there?

Most people have told me to get a Chi or a Bion, but I don't know much about flat irons so I don't know which one out there is the best to get.

My hair is about two inches past my shoulders and while it is in between ';black'; hair and ';white'; hair it's definitely much closer to the ';black'; hair side. I'm looking for an iron that works well, heats up fast, and won't burn out after a few months (which is what happened with my last one).

And also I would obviously want to get something that isn't too expensive, although I realize that good flat irons can be pricey. So I'm more concerned with quality than I am with price, but price is still of some concern as well. What's the best flat iron in terms of quality and product lifespan?
1st of all I'm not gay, but I do like to take care of my hair and look good, if any women think that there is something wrong with that, by all means please let me know, I appreciate your honesty.

Do not settle for cheap brands, theres a difference between flat irons. You want the ones that have ceramic plates, the most popular is the CHI and even though they achieve wonderful results, they break down easily and thus ruin your $100 investment. Solia, FHI, and HAI are also good but work differently depending on hair type and are slightly cheaper.

The best flat iron however is the Sedu. It has ceramic plates and uses tourmaline which is a precious stone that gives off negative ions which are good for your hair. Check out Folica.com and see all the before and after pictures....there are about 10 pages of pictures on the 1 1/2'; Sedu...or you can go for the 1'; inch if you want more control.

However, there is always the GHD with the cheapest at $190....they are excellent but it just depends on if you are willing to spend that much, by the way GHD's are Englands best and most popular iron, and in a few years they will be America's as well.

Chi's break down too much, and if you by them online, their warranty will not be honored....the CHI Turbos are even worse!!!

SEDU is the greatest...if you want proof...go to foica.com and check out the pics of the users that have sent in in the reviews of the 1 1/2' SEDU....you can also go with the 1 inch one if you like...

So at $120 and a great life span....not only SEDU is the best hair straightener as far as results are concerned, it also the best deal....

Hope I've been a great help.

Oh and Sedu work well on black people's hair too, which you stated fall closely around...there are even pics of black ladies who have used it.What's the best flat iron in terms of quality and product lifespan?
I'm not sure your advice is entirely objective. Your post sounds awfully fishy, like an infomercial. I think you work at folica.com, which is likely owned by Sedu, given that they're both headquartered 5 miles from each other in New Jersey.

im in britain and adore that GHD irons, i coudlnt live without mine, they heat up really quickly and i find the ceramic plates glide through hair, my hair is thick and naturally curly and these are perfect, once through dry hair and its streight and more importantly stays staight till you redo it!
The best flat irons are ones that are ceramic. Have more than one heat coil, And have temperature gadges. Chi is an ecellent Iron brand but very expensive. They usually (depending on size) have 3 heat coils if they are 2'' or bigger. All Chi irons are ceramic. Theres one I just tried from maxiglide that I love. It has pins in it that force the hair straight. I never seen anything like it. It's awesome
