What is the best flat iron?

I have long thick hair and need to get a new flat iron. I am looking for a ceramic one that is an inch or more. Anyone have suggestions on the best one to get? What is the best flat iron?
Every answer you are going to get is guaranteed a super-expensive and yes, very good brand like Chi, Sedu or Solia... I would love to have one of these too, but I can't be bothered to spend $200 on one.

I don't know what country your in, but in Canada, we have a store called Winners. It sells a bunch of neat stuff like brand name overstock and expensive stuff knocked down to half price. I looked in there for a flat iron and they had a bunch of Cortex ones. These were the kind they sell at the mall for $200 too... that's how much my good friend paid for hers :) Mine cost me 40 bucks and came in my favourite colour purple! It works pretty good and is small enough that I can get it right to the root and get good volume. Don't pay more than $40-50 for it though...What is the best flat iron?
i have the HAI and it works great i have never had a better flat iron before. Although it is quite expensive (around 150 or so) it is worth it. i have had it for almost 2 years now and not once have i had a problem
Try J'ilbere de Paris hair straightener, it heats up really quick and will do the work even on coarse hair in ten minutes tops. You can find it in Sally Hansen beauty supply products store. It also leaves a glossy finish and no frizz at all =)
u can get either the red conair steam iron which is very good in steaming your hair while making it straight or you can get the in style one with the rotating iron but the conair one cost less and it works good too
really, flat irons just burn your hair and make it look worse. blow dry it.
i dont know think any specific brand is better

but the ones that steam %26amp;%26amp; have different temperature settings are definitely better

just because some are more expensive, it does not make them better
I use the chi, they're used in salons alot and they dont burn your hair, plus after your hair feels really soft. mine was 130$ but i think you can get them for 80
I heard about this thing called instyle and its not like a regular flat iron and i heard it looks really good
Chi Brand. Definitely! They are more on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.
GHD. definitely worth getting one, there great! especially for thick long hair.
