In terms of performance:

The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, Ghd. These are top of the line professional brands

Above average: Chi, Hai, Paul Mitchell,

Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss

Below Average: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.

well, personally,i think tha tthe maxiglide works really well.

i have extremely curly hair,so i think that it's good, because it keeps my hair straighter, and it keeps it healthier and soft-looking.

so,i think that's the bess one.

well,that i've tried so far.
Chi - hands down. =)
I own both a Revlon and an Le Angelique

The Revlon was a cheap 20 dollar one I bought at Wal Greens. Its a great flat iron if you are just looking to flat iron small pieces of hair like bangs.

The Le Angelique is a WONDERFUL flat iron I bought at my local saloon. It was only 75 dollars and I think it works better than my old Chi. It has lasted so long and it comes in cute colors like pink blue green and black. Its hottest temp is 200 c. and it has a nice long cord, which some flat irons tend to lack.
CHI!
ceramic ones that are not gold plated so they won't damage your hair.
The chi is said to be top of the line,

but I've had good experiences with the iso, and basically anything ceramic.
I got the generic Chi from Sally Beauty Supply. I must say that one thing I got from my mom and dad is their nappy as* course curly hair. This iron literally heated to 410 and got my hair bone straight in 15 minutes.
Chi - 1 inch or less.
iso it is really good!!
like many others, i agree that the chi can work wonders.

i have wavy hair and little time to get ready and with the chi i can either curl or straighten my hair in less than 20 minutes. Also, my hair is thick and coarse. With the chi not only did it straighten my hair, but i got the perfect texture. It works for simply straightening hair on a daily basis, and for curling and styling hair for occasions.

the one inch is around 100 and so worth each penny. its not fragile and its very durable.

for a smaller price of around 30, the revlon 1 inch ceramic works great too. its not the best but it gets the job done and is very easy to use compared to other straighteners.
i ordered my ceramic iron off of ebay for $20 it called x-chi ..its like the off brand of the chi i guess and it works amazing....it goes up to 200degrees farenheit ..i am half hispanic so i have thick hair so i was sceptical about it at first, but its awesome.... so...any ceramic iron that goes up to at least 200 degrees..... hope i helped....
