Hey :-) I have the same hair type as you!! Mine is curly and thick, but very fine. Here is the advice I've been giving people looking for a new straightener that's a good one...
Okay, I have been researching hair straighteners for like 3 months (yes, really!). You need to decide for yourself but the top brands seem to be: Sedu and ghd. I know you may have NEVER heard of ';Sedu'; because it is sold exclusively through the world's largest online beauty store, Folica.com
You need to look for one with:
*** Toumaline technology (hair naturally produces positive ions, but toumaline produces extra negative ions and therefore smooths the hair cuticle and means less damage is done)
*** So look for a ceramic (NOT cermaic coated, it has to be all ceramic) plate straightener with Tourmaline infused into the plates.
I e-mailed ghd and they do NOT use toumaline (t-or-ma-line). Also they do not have adjustable heat settings so it remains at a constant high temperature which is NOT good for all hair types.
*** So look for adjustable temperature.
*** A good straightener (or ';flat iron';) goes to minimum 200 degrees Celcius.
*** A swivel cord so that it doesn't get tangled and annoy you while straightening.
-I have heard that the brand 'CHI' is really bad, apparently some have CAUGHT on FIRE!! (Seriosuly). So lack of quality was probably the reason it didn't work on your hair, especially if it's thick/curly (cause people with our hair type NEED a good straightener!)
Sedu straighteners have all of the above features, check out Sedu straighteners at: http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Flat__360_1.h鈥?/a>
They have SO many reviews of people with thick (even ethnic) curly, frizzy hair and they say it straightens their hair really well (and fast)! For great customer reviews (from people who actually own it) go to: http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_r1鈥?/a> and scroll down.
All the best :-) (I think I'm gonna get a Sedu)What is the best flat iron/straightener for very curly/frizzy hair?
the iso is the best straightener i have ever used!! it works really great it heats up in like less than 2 seconds!!!! the temp goes really high...my sis has curly and frizzy hair and it makes it shiny, and not frizzy ITS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!
hope i helped good luck=D
try the remington wet 2 straight straightner i have it and i find it better then any other one i have puffy hair and it works great just set it up to the highest power no matter wat the directions say and run it through once or twice depends on how long u wait for the thing to heat up and ur done
i dont exactly remember what its called but i have very curly and frizzy hair too. its a conair and its silver. it goes up to 395 degrees! it works soooo well and gets the job done fast.
Chi really is the best but other similar good quality brands include GHD, Sedu, ISO. And less expensive (less quality) Conair. You relally wanna spend a good amount because it's worth it, you don't want your hair damaged!
Hope I helped! :)
i have a jilbere de paris and it works great... the temp on the box says it get to like 435 F and chi's go to 410 F so jilbere should work better but is probly more damaging..
